Dubai Heritage Tour

The history of Dubai can be traced back to the year 1830 when it was taken over by a branch of the Bani Yas tribe from the Liwa oasis, led by the Maktoum family, who still rule the Emirate today. Traders from India and Persia were also attracted to Dubai because of the liberal attitudes of the rulers, and soon began to settle in the growing town, which developed a reputation as the leading commercial centre for the region. Trade was based around the safe and natural anchorage of the Creek, which was and still is the commercial heart of the city, with numerous dhows still sailing to other countries.

Old Dubai features many fascinating places to visit, offering glimpses into a time when the city was nothing more than a small ?shing and trading port. Many of the pre-oil heritage sites have been carefully restored, paying close attention to traditional design and using original building materials. Stroll through the Bastakiya area, with its many distinctive wind towers, and marvel at how people coped in Dubai before air-conditioning. Dubai Museum and Jumeirah Mosque both offer interesting insights into local culture. We can just steal a glimpse of ancient Dubai in the Old Bastakiya district and gain knowledge of the city's rich heritage. Visit the Spice Souk which offers you the feel of an authentic Arabian atmosphere and the Gold Souk where all that glitters is gold. Take a ride along the creek aboard the Abra (water taxi) to experience the essence of Dubai.

Through this tour we can truly experience the heritage and culture of Dubai.
